The Louisiana Department of Revenue is releasing an updated version of its popular LaTAP online sales tax payment portal. This new version allows business owners to update their addresses and make payments (including Louisiana State, Parish, and Local Beer & Wine Taxes, Alcoholic Beverage and Special Fuels Taxes, Automobile Rental Excise Tax, Hotel Occupancy, and Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority Tour and Service Contractor Taxes).
The new LaTAP also enables users to select an estimated tax declaration payment option when making a payment. These options will allow the system to automatically calculate and deduct the appropriate amounts from a credit or debit card. These estimates are due on the last day of the filing period for a particular tax or the last day to file if there is no filing period.
The new LaTAP will also allow users to register for the Youth Jobs Tax Credit and Apprenticeship Job Credit, which provide non-refundable credits against income or corporation franchise tax. Withum’s State & Local Tax team is available to assist with the registration process for these credits.
How to Use LaTAP?
To use LaTAP, you must first register for a username and password. You can do this by following the link on the LDR homepage or visiting the Taxpayer Access Point webpage. Once you have registered, you can make payments in LaTAP by locating the filing period and selecting the “Make a payment” button. You will then be prompted to enter the payment amount, bank source, and password. It is important to remember that your password is case-sensitive.
How to Pay Louisiana Taxes?
If you are a resident of Louisiana, then you are required to pay state income taxes. This is true for individuals and businesses. Supplemental wages, such as overtime, bonus money, award money, and commissions are also subject to state income tax in Louisiana. To make a tax payment in Louisiana, you can visit the official Louisiana taxation website.
You can pay your estimated tax declaration payments online using a credit or debit card. Just choose the “Estimated Tax Declaration Payment” option from the Official Payments menu. Please note that a convenience fee is added to each transaction. You can also complete voucher Form IT-540ES and attach a check or money order for the tax period payable to the Department of Revenue. Mail the voucher and check to the address listed here.
If you are unable to pay your Louisiana back taxes in full, you may apply for an installment agreement. Individuals must send a 20% down payment with their application. Business owners must submit an R-19026 (Installment Request for Individual Income Tax) or Form R-19027 (Installment Request for Business Tax) to the LDR.
